The Cook Islands Investment Corporation (CIIC) is delighted with the strong turnout and valuable feedback received at its recent public consultation session.

CIIC Chair Fletcher Melvin described the session as “a good turnout, with excellent feedback from attendees. It was an invaluable part of our strategy refresh process, and we are grateful to everyone who took the time to participate.”

A wide range of important matters were raised during the session. There was strong support for the strategic priorities presented, as well as feedback on the importance of ongoing consultation and collaboration with landowners. Attendees also shared views on land matters that have been successfully addressed in recent years, and areas where Government could have managed land issues more effectively in the past. Valuable suggestions were also provided regarding future community infrastructure and service needs.

“The feedback on land issues, while not new, was especially valuable,” said Mr. Melvin. “It reflects the deep connection our people have with their land, and it is something the Board and management team are committed to addressing. This feedback will directly inform our future planning and decision-making.”

Building on the success of this event, CIIC plans to host further community consultation sessions across Rarotonga and the Pa Enua to continue these important conversations.

In the meantime, CIIC is inviting the wider community to share their views through an online survey.

CIIC Chief Executive Allan Jensen said, “The survey is another important opportunity for the community to share their perspectives. Every response helps shape the future direction of CIIC.”

As a gesture of appreciation, survey participants who provide their name, email address, and phone number at the end of the survey will go into the draw to win:

  • First Prize: $100 Vodafone voucher, $100 Te Aponga voucher, plus CIIC merchandise
  • Second Prize: $50 Vodafone voucher, $50 Te Aponga voucher, plus CIIC merchandise
