The Cook Islands Investment Corporation (CIIC) and CISNOC – the Cook Islands Sport and National Olympic Committee – have put into operation the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) they signed last year, agreeing to co-manage the National Stadium and Sports Arena.

Both organisations in co-managing the venues are promoting sport and physical recreation throughout the Cook Islands and therefore encouraging Cook Islanders to lead healthy and active lifestyles. It is therefore the goal to ensure the stadia are affordable and accessible.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, CIIC will be responsible for the upkeep of the facilities and CISNOC will handle bookings for its use.

Today’s “handover of keys” formalises the co-management arrangements of the Stadium and the Arena, with CISNOC, with its sporting federations, now managing all the bookings for both venues. Bookings can now be made through CISNOC on 24-095 or with Taa Pera admin@cisnoc.org.ck. Information in relation to bookings including the new user agreements for bookings can be found on both the CISNOC and CIIC websites.

It is exciting times ahead for both facilities. Both CIIC and CISNOC are developing some big upgrade plans in the upcoming few years, for both facilities, in particular the stadium. These plans include works and upgrades to the field and track as well as the grandstand.

These works are currently being scoped and will be rolled out once funding arrangements are secured. Current repairs being undertaken by CIIC to the indoor arena are expected to be concluded in April.
