Mr Michael Henry has been Chairperson of the Cook Islands Investment Corporation for the last 8 years, and lives and has family ties to the picturesque paradise of Araura, Aitutaki. Mr Henry has extensive private and public sector governance experience. Michael a seasoned businessman and entrepreneur, started developing “Are Tamanu” Resort, in Amuri, Aitutaki in the 1990s, featuring thatched Bungalows, a beach bar and the first infinity pool in the Cook Islands, with much of the building and designing done by himself, and is today a thriving economic enterprise in Aitutaki. Over the last 25 years Mr Henry has held director and chairmanship positions across various government, tourism, seabed minerals, sailing, sporting, and broadcasting associations and bodies, in his home island, as well as nationally, regionally, and internationally.
